"San Diego fucks with me!"
Out R&B crooner Omar Apollo donned a tight top cropped just above the waist that showed off a hint of midriff and oversized cargo pants as he gleefully performed his hits for an electric crowd at the first-ever Bleached Music Festival at San Diego's Waterfront Park.
The California festival was headlined by Leon Bridges and Joji and boasted queer and adjacent acts like Ethel Cain, Channel Tres, Lizzy McAlpine, Jeremy Zucker, Cat Burns, Remi Wolf, Aluna, Caroline Polachek, and more.
It’s easy to see why the audience consisted of a huge number of gays, theys, and bisexuals, especially those on SSRIs.
Apollo brought one of the biggest crowds of the festival and went on just ahead of sunset on Sunday night.
“How many homosexuals are here?” he asked the crowd to uproarious applause and raised hands. Then he flirted with an audience member (“Who you wanna burn bridges with? Me?”) before giggling and jumping into his latest single, “3 Boys.”
The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter ended the electric set with the entire crowd screaming the TikTok famous bridge to “Evergreen,” then with his signature smooth falsetto in “Go Away.”
As the crowd began to disperse, Apollo made an announcement into the mic: “I got new music coming out this month!”
It’s not clear when, or if it’s just a single or a project, but fans are elated – and ready to sob.
