Wait, there's been drama between Omar Apollo and Troye Sivan?!

We, uh, didn't see this one coming.

Troye Sivan is still touring off of his 2023 hit album Something to Give Each Other, whereas Omar Apollo just released his latest album, 2024's God Said No. While they're two singers who identify as gay men, there didn't seem to be any animosity between Apollo and Sivan… at least until now.

On Friday, July 12, Apollo wrote in an X post:

"The fact y'all think I have beef with Troye Sivan is hilarious. He met my dad and I met his mom at the last show we played together. Very sweet woman. I get it tho, negativity is appealing. I expect nothing less on this app lol he's always been a great friend."

Apollo followed up that statement with a cheeky joke. "Meanwhile," Apollo wrote in a post along with a picture of him seemingly sniffing poppers. That picture is, in fact, a screengrab from the official visualizer of "Tamagotchi" — a song released in March 2022 off of Apollo's Ivory album.

Apollo's "Tamagotchi" song and official visualizer preceded Sivan's "Rush" single release and music video from July 2023, which is even more explicitly about the experience of using poppers. However, Apollo was clearly being silly by sharing this X post right after dismissing any drama with Sivan… clearly just to get the fans riled up.

To be fair, some fans were confused as to what drama Apollo was referring to. There hadn't been that much discourse about any feud between the two singers, nor was that drama widely reported in the media.

But one fan, X user @Struggle_Apollo, shared examples of what they believe Apollo was referring to. This fan attached two screenshots of X posts that were seemingly pitting Apollo and Sivan against each other, writing:

"Don't be dense. Just [because] you don't see it doesn't mean people aren't saying shit [crying emojis]. (Troye fans saw Omar's post and assumed it was about Troye)."

We LOVE and STAN both Troye Sivan and Omar Apollo, so it's great to hear that there's no beef here between the two singers. Now onto the real question: when are we getting a collab, kings?!
