One of the hottest voices in sapphic pop is ready for the next chapter in her career, with a new song and album on the way.

Zolita, one of the hottest voices in sapphic pop, is ready to win the hearts of lesbians everywhere again with the release of her new song “All Girls Go to Heaven” and the announcement of her upcoming album Queen of Hearts, set to release on May 31.

“All Girls Go to Heaven” is a triumphant declaration of joy and self-love that urges you to get up, dance, and shout along. It’s an especially welcome track at a time when queer joy and acceptance are hard to come by thanks to violent attacks by the right on LGBTQ+ communities.

“It's politically a very scary place to be right now, the US, for queer people,” Zolita says. “I think that that's what music and art obviously has always been, such a reprieve. I'm very excited to be able to play this song, and also just the shows themselves being these just queer celebration safe spaces.”

She says that she had written the lyric “All girls go to heaven, god is gay,” on a notepad some time ago, and when she thought about recording a “purely euphoric” queer anthem, those lyrics seemed perfect.

“I was like, ‘This would just be the most fun, fun big gay anthem,’” she says. “I wanted to write a song that I knew would be super fun to sing at the shows, and super affirming to hear at the shows for all of my queer fans.”

“All Girls Go to Heaven” is typical of what half of Queen of Hearts (available to pre-save now) will be, while the other, Zolita says, will be more introspective and vulnerable.

She also says the new album will have several different sounds on it, including country, something she’s really excited to explore.

“I've always been a country music fan, but obviously as a queer person, generally feel pretty excluded from country and from that scene,” she says. “But I started going to queer line dancing this past year and, oh my God. I'm so obsessed. I go twice a week, and there’s a song that I specifically wrote for that, for line dancing.”

Zolita will also be going on tour this fall in September and says that the shows will have a queer pageant theme, much like her music video for “Bloodstream,” which premiered last month.

“I want them to feel like an event, like a party, even more so than just a concert, so I’m super excited” she says. “Also, they’re such incredible spaces for other queer people to meet each other. That's always my favorite thing, hearing the connections that were made after the shows.”

Fans of Zolita will also know that she loves to direct and produce her own music videos, which usually tell complex queer stories. Now, she wants to make the leap to directing a feature film — and she hopes she can do it sooner rather than later.

“I know I've been talking about it for so long, but that's the thing, the feature filmmaking process is so much longer than the music video process, which is why I love that I get to do music videos and how quick the turnaround time is,” she says. “I've been working on the Somebody I Fucked Once feature script for a long time. Now that the strike is over too, it's finally being pitched around and hopefully that's the first movie I'm going to make, and I'm crossing my fingers it'll happen this year.”
