The rain wasn't gonna stop Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias from having fun at Pride!

Alexi Giannoulias, the Illinois Secretary of State, turned heads this weekend when he tweeted a picture of himself walking in Chicago’s 52nd annual Pride Parade wearing a soaking wet white t-shirt over his nicely toned body.

The tweet, which he captioned, “Thank you Illinois for making me so proud to live here and work for you! #Pride2023,” received massive support from fans, who tweeted responses like, “Now THIS is how you run the states,” and “I will never forgive Illinois for not electing you in 2010.”

For those unfamiliar with the latter comment, Giannoulias served as the Treasurer of the State of Illinois from 2007 to 2011, making him the youngest State Treasurer in the nation at the time of his election, when he was only 30. During his run, he placed an unsuccessful bid for the United States Senate in 2010. At the time, the race was closely contested, but he ultimately lost to the Republican candidate, Mark Kirk.

He also shared the thirst trap to his Instagram account, captioning the pic: "Amazing time at the Chicago Pride Parade! Thank you to all the volunteers and supporters who joined us in person and along the route. So, so proud to live in Illinois!!"

Following his senate defeat, Giannoulias returned to the private sector before being elected as the Secretary of State in 2022, defeating Dan Brady and succeeding the longtime incumbent, Jesse White.

Now that he’s back, he’s proving exactly why he deserves a spot in any seat in our government.
