10 celebs who came out of the closet during Pride Month 2024
Welcome to the family!

And if that happens during the month of June, let's just say that it feels extra special to welcome celebs to the LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month!
This year, quite a few celebs came out during Pride Month and started living as their most authentic selves. We couldn't be happier to see them thriving and shining even brighter, so let's take a moment to celebrate these coming-out stories from June 2024 that have already entered the queer history books.
Keep scrolling to see the celebs who celebrated Pride Month in 2024 by coming out of the closet!
Maren Morris
Country superstar Maren Morris came out as bisexual in early June. Even though we still have the entire second half of 2024 to go, this already feels like the biggest coming-out story of the year.
"Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+," Morris wrote in an Instagram post. "Happy pride [rainbow emoji]."
Carissa Rae Martin
Former member of Us the Duo, Carissa Rae Martin, penned an exclusive coming-out essay for Out describing her journey with sexuality. She also discussed how her last relationship ended, and the ways that it impacted her choice to come out. Martin wrote in the exclusive Out essay:
"Coming out should have been a sacred process. Something that should have been on my own terms. But that was ripped away from me. It was one thing to be outed to my friends and family, but to be outed publicly through a song for personal gain and promotion? Absolutely sickening."
Jessica Gunning
Netflix
Another high-profile coming-out story from this year's Pride Month came from Jessica Gunning, one of the stars of Netflix's hit series Baby Reindeer.
"I came out in November 2022. And that was a mega, mega thing for me because I for so long," she explained. "I am surrounded by gays… like, all my friends are gay. So it wasn't that I was repressing anything, it was just that I didn't think that I could be. I still can't articulate it in the best way."
Gunning added, "But I realized I was a big, old gay. I was like, 'That's what it's been, that's what it is.' And that was like a massive moment where everything kind of clicked and I made sense of myself then."
Deshawn Radden
Survivor 41 finalist Deshawn Radden also made waves when he shared an Instagram post coming out as queer. He wrote in the caption:
"I came out to my family and a few close friends a few years ago. The journey only began at that point, and it's taken much growing, learning & unlearning, and developing self-love to get here, especially as this part of my identity intersects with my faith. These last few seasons of my life have been transformative for me in that way."
Louisa Jacobson
HBOLouisa Jacobson — Meryl Streep's daughter and an actress on The Gilded Age — also came out to the world in celebration of Pride Month.
"Blessed to be entering the Joyful New Era bb [Pride flag emoji]," Jacobson wrote in an Instagram post.
Chappell Roan
Even though Chappell Roan had already been identifying herself as queer for some time, she went a step further during a concert and declared that she's officially a lesbian now.
"Some sh*t's changed," Roan is heard saying in a video shared on X. "But, b*tch, I hope you're happy, 'cause I'm a lesbian now!"
Bulk Bronson
Wrestling star Bulk Bronson came out as bisexual this June, following his partner's cue (who was already out as bi/pansexual and queer). Besides sharing a picture of himself and a bisexual flag in an X post, Bronson shared subsequent statements thanking fans for the "overwhelming" messages of support that he received after he coming out.
Jessica Madsen
Best known for her role as Cressida Cowper on Bridgerton, Jessica Madsen also came out during this year's Pride Month to the delight of her fans.
"In Love with a woman," Madsen wrote in an Instagram post. "Loud about it and proud about it! [rainbow emoji]."
Amber Ruffin
Comedian, writer, and actress Amber Ruffin came out during the very last weekend of this year's Pride Month with an adorable Instagram post. The Late Night with Seth Meyers writer shared in a hilarious post:
"In what will come as a shock to exactly zero people, I'm using the last day of PRIDE to come out! Be proud of who you are, little babies! I know I am! And I can't wait to be discriminated against for a new reason!"
Emily Carey
Best known for playing the young version of Diana Prince in 2017's Wonder Woman and the younger Queen Alicent Hightower on HBO's House of the Dragon, Emily Carey is another celebrity who came out in the last few days of Pride Month in 2024.
"Happy Pride [heart emojis]," they wrote. "I am in love and have never been prouder."
