Though it's a guilty pleasure for many people regardless of identity, mainstream reality dating competition shows, like the incredibly popular global Love Island franchise, do have a reputation for being overwhelmingly straight. But will there ever be a day when Love Island would dedicate a season to helping LGBTQ+ islanders find the loves of their lives? Well, one Love Islandmainstay is hopeful!
Reality TV icon Ariana Madix (who came out as bisexual in 2020 after an unfortunate outting incident with a Vanderpump Rules cast mate and who started hosting duties on this year's sixth season of Love Island USA) hosted the DirecTV Get Real event with People and Entertainment Weekly on Thursday nightcelebrating some of our fave reality TV stars, and on the red carpet, she expressed how much she'd love for more queer reality shows to become, well, a reality!
"I think there needs to be way more," Madix told Out. "I think there needs to be way more, and by more I mean two or three or four or five or 10 queer dating shows."
