Moira Rose is getting ready for her next big role!
Beloved actress Catherine O’Hara is joining the second season of the hugely popular HBO series The Last of Us in an undisclosed role.
O’Hara, known for films like Beetlejuice, Home Alone, Best in Show, and Waiting for Guffman, as well as TV shows like SCTV and Schitt’s Creek, has joined the cast of the video game adaptation starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as two people who form a bond while traveling across a zombie-infested America.
O’Hara getting a supporting role in the next season of The Last of Us could mean good news for her when Moira’s favorite season, Awards Season, comes back around! After the first season, Murray Bartlett, Lamar Johnson, and Keivonn Montreal Woodard were all nominated for Emmys for Outstanding Guest Actor, with Nick Offerman winning. Additionally, Melanie Lynskey and Anna Torv were nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor, where Storm Reid won for playing the girl Ellie shared her first kiss with in The Last of Us.
O’Hara won an Emmy for playing Moira Rose in 2020 for the final season of Schitt’s Creek.
Others joining the season 2 cast include Kaitlyn Dever, who is playing Abby, a young woman out for revenge, Young Mazino, who is playing Jesse, and Isabela Merced, who is playing the bisexual character Dina.
When we first meet Dina, she’s in a relationship with Jesse, however, they break up, and soon she starts dating Ellie, and eventually, the two move to a farm together. Their love story is expected to play a large role in the upcoming season.
