What can't Connie Britton do?
Fans have loved her for a myriad of hit projects, including American Horror Story, Friday Night Lights, The White Lotus, and more.
Now, the star is diving back into the drama genre with the powerful new series Dear Edward on Apple TV+.
"First and foremost, Jason Katims [and I] worked together on Friday Night Lights. He wrote a role that he only envisioned for me. I just loved the sound of the character. She's just so full of live and so much fun and so flawed! I really loved her and I had so much fun playing her," Britton tells Out.
Britton portrays Dee Dee, who loses her husband Charles in a plane crash. As she learns more about his death, she discovers several secrets about him. Dee Dee finds out that Charles had a hidden life in Los Angeles and lived a prominent gay lifestyle.
"It was so great and complicated. We wanted to really use it as an opportunity to explore. The fact that both of them, in a way, were feeling like they had to live in this facade. The damage that that does to people. In the end, even though she experiences incredible loss and incredible betrayal, Dee Dee ultimately has a deeper understanding of how important it is to live in your own truth. That's more important than anything."
While Britton is adding another important role to her résumé, fans of American Horror Story are still manifesting her return to the franchise.
"I love working with Ryan! Any day, any time. People love American Horror Story. That was such a fun experience for me to be able to be in the first season of that. It was so exciting and cool."
