The Emmys are about to be up Schitt's Creek!
Eugene and Dan Levy, known for co-creating and co-starring in the beloved and critically acclaimed sitcom Schitt's Creek, have officially been named as the hosts for the upcoming 76th Emmys, the first father-son duo to do so!
Eugene and Dan played father and son Johnny Rose and David Rose in Schitt's Creek, part of a wealthy family who loses all its money and assets and is forced to move into a motel in a small town they once purchased as a joke.
The show also starred Catherine O'Hara, Annie Murphy, Emily Hampshire, Chris Elliot, Sarah Levy, and Noah Reid.
In 2020, the Levys and Schitt's Creek swept the comedy categories at the Emmys, winning nine total awards, including seven in a row at the televised ceremony.
Schitt's Creek won Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing, Outstanding Writing, as well as Outstanding Actor for Eugene Levy, Supporting Actor for Dan, and Best Actress and Supporting Actress.
In total, Dan Levy won 17 awards for the show.
"For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough" the two said in a statement. "We're thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on Sept. 15."
There was a
rumor this hosting announcement might be coming earlier this month, when
Deadline reported that the Levys were in the negotiation stage to host. Now, the deal has been done! And we WILL be sat!
