RuPaul’s Drag Race is, by all accounts, the largest mainstream platform for drag performers to showcase their talents, make a name for themselves, and grow their presence on social media. Every single season, various contestants go from being “local queens” to become global stars.
Even though Drag Race doesn’t necessarily work for everybody – with some people even going on to retire from their drag careers after the show – this franchise has created international superstars like Trixie Mattel, Bianca Del Rio, Shangela, Jinkx Monsoon, Bob the Drag Queen, and Katya, to name a few. With season 15, a brand-new batch of drag stars has been added to the RuPaul’s Drag Race queendom. While certain contestants struggled to grow their platforms over the course of the season, many queens have grown their Instagram following in a very significant way.
With season 15 officially coming to an end, it’s time to analyze which queens grew the most in terms of Instagram following. For reference, the initial numbers for this list were collected on December 13, 2022, right before the Meet The Queens of season 15 announcement was released to the public. The final Instagram statistics used for this analysis were collected on Saturday, April 15, 2023, one day after the grand finale of Drag Race season 15.
