A lot of RuPaul’s Drag Race content is coming in 2024!

2023 was yet another huge year for the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise, and Mama Ru’s cinematic universe isn’t slowing down any time soon!

On Monday, August 21, Paramount announced that RuPaul’s Drag Race has been officially renewed for a 16th season on MTV. The RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked companion series has also been picked up for a new season.

Additionally, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars has been renewed for season nine on Paramount+. The All Stars version of Untucked also received a greenlight.

So, if you were already excited for Drag Race season 16 and All Stars 9, you can now rest assured that those seasons are officially on their way.

These renewals come on the heels of Drag Race receiving nine Primetime Emmy nominations in 2023. The show has been nominated in high-profile categories such as Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program, which RuPaul has been winning for several consecutive years.

It is obviously way too early for more tea to be spilled about these upcoming cycles. Regular seasons of Drag Race typically premiere in January, which are typically then followed by new seasons of All Stars. Overall, we still have quite a bit to go until those new seasons hit our screens.

In a world where drag performers and LGBTQ+ people are being constantly attacked by conservative pundits, it’s fabulous to hear that Drag Race and All Stars have been renewed for new seasons. We need representation now more than ever, and huge platforms like MTV and Paramount+ are great places for it.

We’re already looking forward to ringing in this new year of Drag Race on TV!

All seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars are available on Paramount+.
