It’s almost time for Fellow Travelers!

Based on the 2007 novel by Thomas Mallon, Fellow Travelers tells the story of Hawkins Fuller (Matt Bomer) and Tim Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey) falling in love during the height of McCarthyism – a period of time when US Senator Joseph McCarthy spearheaded a campaign against homosexuality.

On Tuesday, October 3, Showtime released the first official trailer for Fellow Travelers. This trailer highlights Hawkins’ political career, the constant questioning of his sexuality, falling in love with Tim, and his relationship with Lucy Smith (Allison Williams) to keep up impressions.

You can watch the first Fellow Travelers trailer below.

Besides Bomer, Bailey, and Williams, the cast of Fellow Travelers also features Chris Bauer as Senator McCarthy, Linus Roache as Senator Wesley Smith, Jelani Alladin as Marcus Hooks, Noah J. Ricketts as Frankie Hines, Will Brill as Roy Cohn, Erin Neufer as Mary Johnson, Matt Visser as David Schine, Christine Horne as Jean Kerr, and David Tomlinson as Eddie Kofler.

Previous clips released by Showtime also highlighted the intimacy created between Bomer and Bailey’s characters in the series. Hawkins appears to be a more dominant partner in the relationship, while Tim is still having a lot of first experiences with another man. In one particular scene, Hawkins orders Tim to come sit on his lap and refers to him as his “boy,” with Tim obeying him and following suit at all times.

Needless to say, we are very excited for Fellow Travelers!

Fellow Travelers premieres October 27 on Showtime.
