After two years, the third season of 'Hacks' is FINALLY almost here
Nearly two years after the season two finale of Hacks aired, we finally have a trailer for the upcoming third season of the hit Max comedy!
Hacks stars Jean Smart as legendary comedian Deborah Vance who hires a young writer named Ava (Hannah Einbinder) to help freshen up her jokes. As the two work together, their bond gets stronger and stronger.
At the end of the second season, Deborah has released a critically acclaimed and wildly popular new standup special with the help of Ava, then proceeded to fire Ava and set her free so that she can accomplish her own dreams.
Now, the show is getting ready for its highly-anticipated third season!
In the new trailer, Ava is running to catch an elevator when she realizes that Deborah is in it, bridging an awkward, but exciting reunion.
Then it’s a parade of classic Hacks set ups. Deborah dancing, appearing on late night shows, and doing photoshoots. Ava crashing her car and acting as a caddy for Deborah, and just about every character hooking up with someone!
There’s a great pronoun joke, where Ava tells Deborah “some of your more problematic material… it's gaining traction.”
“Okay, which minority group is getting upset,” an exasperated Deborah asks.
“I don’t think ‘minority’ is the proper term anymore,” Ava replies.
“What are they called?” Deborah fires back.
“No, don’t say ‘they!’” Ava chides.
“Oh I thought everybody was ‘they’ now!” Deborah yells, to which Ava replies, “That’s a different thing!”
We love a well-written queer joke!
Hacks also stars Carl Clemons-Hopkins as Marcus, the CEO of Deborah’s company, Mark Indelicato as Deborah’s personal assistant, Paul W. Downs as her manager, as well as Poppy Liu, Megan Stalter, Kaitlin Olson, Johnny Sibilly, and Rose Abdoo.
The third season will feature new characters played by Helen Hunt, Christina Hendricks, Christopher Lloyd, George Wallace, Dan Bucatinsky, and Tony Goldwyn.
According to Vanity Fair, Ava will strike up something of a relationship with one of those new guest stars, a “gay Republican oil heiress and local TV affiliate owner” played by Hendricks.
The first two episodes of Hacks season 3 will premiere on Max on May 2.
