And they were roommates!
The official House Hunters TikTok account has started to post clips from their long-running HGTV series where people, usually couples, try to find their dream homes. One recent clip they posted from clip from the ninth episode of season 163 (yes, season 163...) features two "roommates" who want to buy a house together, and people are wondering if perhaps... something is afoot.
"Right now I'm living with a roommate in an apartment," Mike, who is an assistant professor and a competitive bodybuilder living in Austin, Texas, says in the clip. "Now is the time to buy for me because my job situation is really stable. I really love Austin, it's really great. There's so much to do outside here."
Now, these two very easily could be roommates, but also, we've seen a lot of gay couples that look exactly like this. Two buff men with similar hair and beards and clothes who live together and make a life together? It's a tale as old as time, especially when homophobia was worse and you had to keep your partner a secret from the world and disguise their connection to you as something else, like a "roommate" or "friend."
The House Hunters accountitself says, "They could say they're brothers and I wouldn't question it," in its own caption! What is going on here?!
"I'd really like a cottage style or more traditional home. I think it's a very cozy kind of home to come home to after bodybuilding, and doing my weight training," Mike says elsewhere in the clip as he and his "roommate" sit together in their apartment with their dogs.
But there's still another twist! When we meet the realtor who's helping the two roomies find a house to buy, he's a third big, buff gym guy with the same beard, haircut, and fashion sense as the two roommates!
"Are these supposed to be 3 different people?" one commenter asked.
"Bears bears bears," another wrote.
"It's same dude in similar fonts," a third added.
"My three dads," yet another said.
Hopefully,
House Hunters will continue to upload clips from the episode so we can dive deeper into this mystery!
