The final season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is going to be full of surprises, and we’ve got an exclusive first look at one of them!
In this never-before-seen clip from the upcoming 4th and final season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Big Red (Larry Saperstein) and his girlfriend Ashlyn (Julia Lester) are meeting up after some time apart, and Big Red has a big revelation for her.
In the clip, Big Red comes back looking slightly different from before – his new hair and glasses give him a ‘cosmopolitan” look that Ashlyn compliments.
“Your last text said you had something important to tell me?” Ashlyn asks in the clip.
“Right,” a nervous Big Red replies. “Ashlyn, last summer something happened…”
In the last season, Ashlyn had a big revelation at summer camp, when she realized that she was crushing on a female counselor and was queer.
After another camper, Maddox, called Ashlyn out, saying, “I know Val is hard to handle sometimes, I used to crush on her too,” about the counselor, “But yelling at people is no way to express romantic feelings.”
In the next episode, Val comforts Ashlyn, telling her, “You’re just super complex. There’s an edge to you, but you have so much love inside of you. It’s a beautiful puzzle, and I wouldn’t presume to tell you anything.”
The two then hugged, prompting Ashlyn to finally realize that yes, she has feelings for girls.
At the end of the season, her boyfriend Big Red also came out as bisexual, but very casually. Will this new revelation reveal more about how he came to that conclusion?
We’ll find out on August 9, when the
fourth and final season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series airs on Disney+.
