A queer countdown: These LGBTQ+ shows are officially ending in 2025

New year, last season!
Going into 2025, we already know that several TV shows will be airing their final seasons this year. Some of these shows have been around for years, while others feel like they were just getting started. Nonetheless, many TV shows
At least 20 queer-inclusive shows ended in 2024 — and, from the looks of it, we're fastening our seatbelts for 2025 to be a year with even more cancelations and final seasons.

1. Big Mouth
This animated comedy about preteens going through puberty and dealing with hormone monsters has had some good queer representation, but will be ending after its upcoming eighth season.
Big Mouth is streaming on Netflix.
2. 9-1-1: Lone Star
We'll miss you, Tarlos! This procedural about firefighters in Austin, Texas had some truly wild disasters, as well as a great gay romance between paramedic TK and police officer Carlos Reyes (the couple was dubbed Tarlos by fans), and will be coming to an end after its fifth season, which has already aired several episodes.
9-1-1: Lone Star is streaming on Hulu.
3. Stranger Things
Netflix's huge sci-fi/horror series about a group of kids and teens in the 80s fighting against a psychic evil from another dimension will air its fifth and final season this year. It features queer characters like Will Byer and Robin Buckley.

4. The Handmaid's Tale
Based on Margaret Atwood's novel of the same name, this dystopian series won 15 emmys in its five seasons so far. It explores a dystopian country called Gilead after an American civil war where women are considered to be property of men and placed in child-bearing slavery. Both Alexis Bledel and Samira Wiley won Emmys for playing queer characters.
The Handmaid's Tale is streaming on Hulu.
5. Andor
Andor is one of the best Star Wars shows of all-time, and the first to feature prominent gay characters – the rebel lesbian couple Vel Sartha and Cinta Kaz. It stars Diego Luna as the titular Cassian Andor, who was an important figure in the early rebellion. Its upcoming second season will be its last.
Andor is streaming on Disney+.
6. You
Penn Badgley stars in this thriller series about a serial killer who develops obsessions with women. It had several gay characters throughout its run, including one played by Lukas Gage, and will air its fifth and final season in 2025.
You is streaming on Netflix.
7. Outlander
Historical drama/fantasy series Outlander follows Claire Randall, a World War II nurse who is thrown back in time to 1743 where she falls in love with a Highland warrior in Scotland. The show features gay character Lord John Grey. The show will have one more season of ten episodes.
Outlander is streaming on Starz.
8. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur
This animated Marvel show is about child genius Lunella Lafayette and her dinosaur companion as they go about life and fight supervillains in New York City. Luna has several queer friends including her non-binary classmate Tai and her trans friend Brooklyn. The final episodes of season 2 will air in February.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is streaming on Disney+.
