10 songs 'Glee' would absolutely perform if it was still airing in 2024
Glee was one of the most groundbreaking TV shows of all time and changed the way media portrays gay characters and the way American audiences see them... but it also committed many of the worst musical sins ever known to man.
If the show continued on to today, you can be sure it would have committed even more, darker transgressions.
Here are 10 songs we think Glee would absolutely be performing if it was still airing in 2024.1. "WAP" - Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion
I can see it now: Kurt and Rachel are both eyeing the same guy they meet at a New York nightclub, and in an attempt to one up each other, they rap this song by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. Can't you just imagine Lea Michele saying "poonani dasani!?!?"
2. "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" - Lil Nas X
Throughout the show, Kurt struggled to feel sexy, so why not lean into the raunchiness by serenading Blaine with a slowed-down version of this Lil Nas X song all about gay sex? Think kind of an inverted version of Blaine confessing he cheated by singing a stripped down piano version of "Teenage Dream."
3. "Unholy" - Sam Smith ft. Kim Petras
Kurt goes back to school to help out Unique, who has been bullied and is feeling like she's totally undesirable. In singing this empowering song, Kurt reminds Unique that she's just as edgy and sexy as she wants to be!
4. "Lunch" - Billie Eilish
We know for sure that Santana Lopez would be singing this song seductively to Brittany!
5. "Not Like Us" - Kendrick Lamar
Matthew Morrison sure loved to rap on Glee, and his Mr. Schue often rapped some incredibly inappropriate songs like "Gold Digger," "Blurred LInes," and "The Thong Song," so we can definitely see him rapping this diss track about Drake and somehow making it about Sue Sylvester.
6. "Formation" - Beyoncé
You just know Ryan Murphy would have Mercedes, Unique, and Santana perform this song with a troop of Black backup dancers we'd never see again.
7. "Espresso" - Sabrina Carpenter
There's nothing Glee loved more than hoping on a musical trend, just see its performances of Psy's "Gangnam Style," Duck Sauce's "Barbra Streisand," and Ylvis' "What Does the Fox Say." While "Espresso" is undeniably a better song than those, Glee wouldn't be able to resist the sweet enticement of having Quinn sing "that's that me espresso."
8. "Hot to Go" - Chappell Roan
"Hot to Go" is a perfect Glee song. It has a chorus perfect for singing along, a dance to go along with it, and would make a perfect group number led by Brittany, singing about confidence and being hot to go!
9. "Rush" - Troye Sivan
No, this wouldn't be sung by Kurt! After the rest of the Glee club assumes Kurt is the bottom in the relationship, Blaine supports him by coming out as the true bottom in the relationship by singing this song in front of the whole New Directions.
10. An Entire 'Hamilton' Multi-Episode Arc
Glee loved putting on high school musicals, and it absolutely wouldn't be able to resist Hamilton! With Mr. Schue stepping in to play Alexander Hamilton, Artie being his Aaron Burr, and Rachel and Mercedes dueling to see who gets to play Eliza and who gets to play Angelica, Glee would destroy this beloved musical.
