Get ready to head to the high seas with Stede and Blackbeard!
The epic love story of Stede Bonnet and Edward Teach is coming back in Our Flag Means Death season two!
“Dear Ed, I love everything about you. I love being near you. Breathing the same air,” Stede says in a voiceover in the recently-released trailer while looking out to the wide ocean, where he’s thrown a message in a bottle. “I think of you often. I hope you’re thinking of me as well.
“Fuck you, Stede Bonnet,” Ed (also known as Blackbeard) says.
If you remember, season one left off with our two stars Stede (Rhys Darby) and Blackbeard (Taika Waititi) promising to meet each other and run away together to live the rest of their lives together. However, Stede never ended up making it to their meeting point, and Blackbeard no longer believes in love and has become even more ruthless and violent than he ever was before!
Season 2 will follow the repercussions of that.
One of the most heartbreaking things in the trailer happens when Blackbeard and his crew are attacking a wedding. While his crew is busy plundering and murdering, he approaches the cake, lifting off the groom figurine that looks more than a little bit like Stede.
If you watch closely, you can also see that Blackbeard keeps both figures from on top of the wedding cake, and paints the redheaded bride with black hair and a beard to look more like him. The yearning and the longing!!!!!!
Season two of Our Flag also stars Samson Kayo, Vico Ortiz, Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Matthew Maher, Kristian Nairn, Con O’Neill, David Fane, Samba Schutte, Nat Faxon, and Leslie Jones. New additions include Rubio Qian, Madeleine Sami, Anapela Polataivao, Erroll Shand, Minnie Driver, and Bronson Pinchot.
Season two debuts with three episodes on Max on Thursday, October 5. The season will have two episodes a week until the season finale on Thursday, October 26.
