Rachel Weisz is back and continuing her legacy of complex, complicated, and unforgettable queer characters in Amazon Prime Video's newest miniseries Dead Ringers!
Playing not just one but TWO roles in the gender-swapped series remake of David Cronenberg's 1988 film of the same name, Weisz stars as Elliot and Beverly Mantle, two brilliant but co-dependent twin gynecologists who are trying to revolutionize how babies are born.
The campy, darkly comedic psychosexual thriller (those are Weisz's own words!) is just the latest in her filmography filled with queer inclusion. Besides Dead Ringers' Beverly, who is a lesbian, Weisz has also played queer in other critically-acclaimed titles like Yorgos Lanthimos' 2018 film The Favourite (for which she got an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress) and Sebastián Lelio's 2017 romantic drama Disobedience.
Weisz has become a veritable queer icon over the years with her roles, and that isn't lost on her she tells Out when speaking alongside Dead Ringers series creator Alice Birch.
And it also isn't lost on her Dead Ringers castmate and recent Out cover star Poppy Liu, who let Weisz know just how much of an impact she has on her LGBTQ+ fans.
Dead Ringers is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
