The uncut version of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 is coming to Paramount+.
This week, Paramount+ announced that the full 90-minute episodes of Drag Race season 15 are coming to the streaming service on Wednesday, August 9. This move is meant to celebrate the nine Emmy nominations received by the 15th season of Drag Race, and to appease the fans who even filed a Change.org petition for the 90-minute episodes to be restored.
In other words, this means that the entirety of Drag Race season 15 will have 90-minute episodes on Paramount+, not just a few episodes toward the end of the season (which aired on MTV). As expected, queens and fans are excited about the new scenes being added to the episodes.
To celebrate the occasion, World of Wonder released a special video featuring Trixie Mattel, Katya, Ts Madison, and Valentina announcing the release of these extended 90-minute episodes of Drag Race season 15.
MTV edited down most of the episodes from Drag Race season 15 to make room in the schedule for a brand-new show titled The Real Friends of WeHo. As time went on, however, the network backtracked on its decision and started to release a few 90-minute episodes toward the end of the season.
Nonetheless, viewers only got a handful of those 90-minute episodes. Given that the number of queens was already much smaller, these extended cuts also didn’t solve the problem that early-outs barely got any airtime. Overall, the 60-minute episodes of season 15 were just not long enough to show the queens properly, particularly in a cast of 16 contestants.
Now, every single episode of Drag Race season 15 will have its intended runtime of 90 minutes. World of Wonder executive producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato wrote in a statement:
“You asked for it, and you got it. We’re thrilled to deliver 90-minute episodes for all of season 15, showcasing the joy and genius of this legendary cast.”
The 90-minute episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 will drop on August 9 on Paramount+.
