It's Sasha Colby time!
The Hawaiian queen dominated the competition on the 15th season of RuPaul's Drag Race. Now, all that's keeping her from a crown is this Friday's grand finale.
"I know now that this is the season I was supposed to be in because it's so politically charged. My mere existence right now is just making so many conservatives scared. I feel particularly zoned in on as a trans drag performer. As a Leo maybe, I'm just like.. bring it. I'm nothing for your self esteem. Only the divas can see other divas baby," Colby tells Out.
As a former Miss Continental, Colby came into the competition with plenty of respect from the other competitors, judges, and fans. Plus, her drag daughter Kerri Colby made a splash on season 14 of Drag Race.
"It's been surreal. It's been genuinely really wild to get the support and the overflowing energy that comes when I'm at a live show. Every booking I've gone on lately has been completely sold out. I'm already a winner."
With 20 years under her belt as a drag performer, Colby is hoping her legacy and representation as an authentic trans woman will resonate with many LGBTQ+ people across the country.
"[If I win] it would mean, internally, the culmination of 20 years of love for this art. What it would mean for trans people in general... [it] would just give everyone so much power to be themselves."
The finale of RuPaul's Drag Race airs this Friday on MTV. To see the full interview with Sasha Colby, check out the video below.
