Wake up, babe… a Schitt’s Creek reboot update just dropped.
Though Dan Levy is currently focused on other projects like his directorial debut film Good Grief, fans are always clamoring for news about Schitt’s Creek and speculating over the possibility of a reboot. When asked about whether the series would ever get a reboot or movie continuity, executive producer Andrew Barnsley told The Messenger:
“It’s something that we know there’s demand and interest for it, really. It’s something that I know Dan and Eugene [Levy] are considering all the time, and I think it’s going to be a timing thing.”
He continued, “The fear is: does it tarnish the legacy to go back and revisit them in the way that maybe the Entourage movie did?”
On the other hand, Barnsley clarified that he doesn’t have any update or timeline regarding when a potential reboot could hit the screens. The producer reinforced that the Schitt’s Creek creators “love the world” they created and wouldn’t want to ever ruin it.
In 2020, the final season of Schitt’s Creek won several Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, among others.
Though Levy and his costars are known to reunite on occasion for fun pictures and social media posts, talks about an actual reboot of Schitt’s Creek haven’t been discussed as of late. We’d love to see one, but we haven’t heard any recent update from Levy himself.
Schitt’s Creek is currently available for streaming on Hulu.
