Out chatted with the Sausage Party: Foodtopia star, alongside his fellow foodies Kristen Wiig and Sam Richardson.

Calling all horny foodies — the Sausage Party is back in full swing!

Eight years after the release of the original 2016 film, Amazon Prime Video is blessing us with Sausage Party: Foodtopia, the outrageous, raunchy, and laugh-out-loud adult animated series we need right now, telling the story of our fave pansexual, polyamorous, orgy-loving group of food stuffs as they try to create a perfect, post-human world.

With the Sausage Party universe returning, Out got the chance to speak with star and co-creator Seth Rogen (Frank), alongside his co-stars Kristen Wiig (Brenda Bunson) and Sam Richardson (Julius) about bringing back sexy food to people's screens, and one of the most interesting revelations we found while talking to Rogen was that he learned what the term "twink" meant after he himself was called a "bear" by others.

For context, the Sausage Party world is extremely queer and filled with all sorts of pun-y personalities. So many queer characters exist in Foodtopia, from gay bagels and flatbreads to the infamous lesbian taco played by Salma Hayek in the original 2016 film. One of the many queer side characters in this franchise is a non-perishable, cream-filled snack cake (a.k.a. a Twinkie) whose name is literally Twink, a nod to the infamous term used by the gay community to refer to a skinny, smooth, hairless, young-looking man.

When asked if Rogen knew what "twink" meant before the character was even created, he had an interesting story to tell!

"I remember I started being referred to as a bear actually," Rogen told Out. "And so, and I think that opened my eyes to the bear-twink dichotomy, as it were."

"I think one was on the heels of the other," Rogen continued. "I heard myself be called a bear and then it was explained... I got into what a bear was and I thought, 'Oh, there's bears, there's twinks!'"
