Award-winning filmmaker Jorge Xolalpa is bringing the gay Latinx millennial experience of life in Los Angeles to the new series Strangelove — set to premiere on Prime Video, YouTube, and Vimeo just in time to kick off National Hispanic Heritage Month.
Described as a "labor of love" that's been in different stages of production since 2021, Strangelove reflects the "diverse, multifaceted lives of the LGBTQ+ community" in L.A. In fact, Xolalpa shaped each of the characters on the show drawing from his own experiences, which makes these storylines feel as genuine, relatable, and true for a community that's still largely underrepresented on TV.
While we wait for the grand premiere of Strangelove, here's all the tea you need to know about this beautiful group of diverse actors starring in the series!
Scroll through to meet the actors — and find out which characters they're playing — in the cast of Strangelove, which premieres this Wednesday, September 18 on Prime Video, YouTube, and Vimeo.

Cristian is played by Alexis Vazquez on Strangelove. The character is described as a "charismatic player of the group" and is "known as the only 'top' among his friends."
The character's bio continues:
"Despite his carefree persona, Cristian shares a deep, unspoken history with David, one of his best friends. They've known each other since college, harboring secret crushes they never confessed. Now, Cristian works as a property manager, navigating life and friendships with a complex mix of bravado and vulnerability."

Raury Rolander, an actor who's starred in projects like Silvana Sin Lana and All Rise, plays David on the show.
David is considered "the diva of the friend group" who "lives a life of luxury thanks to his trust fund." The one issue in David's life is his "jobless boyfriend of six years," the synopsis reads. "By day, David works at his mother's design firm, where he meets Kevin Lieberman — sparking an affair that takes a dark turn as Kevin's wife, Elizabeth, enjoys watching them in secret."

Portrayed by Brandon Baez (Bi the Way, As I Promised You), Rami is the "fun-loving fem twink" among this group of friends featured on Strangelove.
Rami is also a "sex worker who brings levity and humor to the often-complicated dynamics among his friends," and his "zest for life masks deeper struggles, including unrequited love from within his circle."

Ian, brought to life by Emmanuel Alonso Lopez (Russian Doll, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels), happens to be Cristian's love interest in the series.
The synopsis highlights that Ian's introduction to the Strangelove group "adds layers of tension and romance, challenging the status quo and deepening the emotional stakes."

Xolalpa himself, who created and wrote the show, also stars in Strangelove as Andrew, an "army veteran battling PTSD and depression."
While Andrew is "working as a maintenance tech," be friends his coworker, Cristian, who becomes the character's closest friend. Through this character, Xolalpa "explores themes of mental health and the silent struggles of veterans."

Another interesting character on the show, Gabriel, is played by Charles Fournier (A Spy Movie, Welcome to Chippendales).
Gabriel is… well, David's "jobless boyfriend!" On Strangelove, Gabriel is shown as a "young law school graduate who has failed the bar exam twice." As he struggles to "find his place in the world" and has a complicated relationship with David, Gabriel brings a "poignant subplot to the series."
