Max's new "rom-doc" series is bringing some much-needed LGBTQ+ rep to reality dating TV!

Swiping America is shaking up the reality dating TV landscape in the best way!

Streaming on Max and created by We're Here producers Johnnie Ingram and Steve Warren, Swiping America is the newest, self-described "rom-doc" series that follows four single New Yorkers as they travel the country together in search of love. The show is also notable for helping diversity the reality dating genre, with three of the four leads being people of color and two of the four leads being members of the LGBTQ+ community.

"Each episode finds the group in a new American city (Asheville, NC; New Orleans, LA; Miami, FL; Austin, TX; Santa Fe, NM; Boulder, CO; Seattle, WA; and Honolulu, Hawaii), as producers swipe through possible matches and curate blind dates for them," the official series description reads. "While forging a special friendship with each other over the course of the season, their journey culminates in the show’s last destination of Hawaii, where they hand-pick their date and ultimately decide whether their match can go the distance."

Out got the chance to speak with the four lead subjects of the rom-doc series — Ash Warren, Krishnanand Kelkar, Kesun Lee, and Reagan Baker — about bringing diversity and representation to a reality dating series, what their icks are, what are some red flags they look for when dating someone, and more!
