The first and second seasons of HBO’s The White Lotus were huge hits with viewers and critics alike. The anthology series, written and directed by Mike White, has been a significant triumph for all of the actors involved as well – culminating in a true renaissance for legendary actress Jennifer Coolidge.

With so much awards buzz and pop culture dominance behind the series, HBO has already renewed The White Lotus for a third season. Overall, fans are eagerly awaiting to find out where the upcoming season will take place, which actors are checking into the resort, and when the new episodes premiere on HBO. Theme

During an interview with Variety, White talked about the themes he wants to explore in the third season of The White Lotus. “The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex,” he explained. “I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”

Location

Multiple sources told Variety that the third season of The White Lotus will be set in Thailand. White had already dropped several clues in the press that the upcoming cycle would take place in Asia, so the placement in Thailand is completely in line with those previous reports.

Rumored Cast

Knoxville is certainly a possible cast member for The White Lotus season three given that he had just been hanging out with White in the location where the upcoming season might take place. In turn, executive producer David Bernad recently revealed (via Deadline) that Evan Peters was meant to play the character of Ethan Spiller in season two, which could indicate that the doors are open for him to get cast in season three.

Another rumor is that Connie Britton might reprise her season one role as Nicole Mossbacher in the third season of The White Lotus. She told Deadline last year, “[Mike White] wanted me to be in the second season, and there was an idea that I loved for the character. Our intention is to do it in the third season. A piece of casting didn’t work in the second season and we’re hoping to that in the third season.”

Possible Premiere Date

Season one of The White Lotus premiered in July 2021, while season two came out in October 2022. As such, it is expected that the third season will premiere either in the summer or in the fall of 2023.
