It seems like Bob the Drag Queen had a direct impact on Sasha Velour's fabulous casting on We're Here!

"The first person to reach out was Bob the Drag Queen," Sasha told Out during her full interview promoting season 4 of the hit HBO series. "She was like, 'I'm about to recommend you for this. Do you want to do it?'"

The winner of RuPaul's Drag Race season 9 was already drawn to the impact that We're Here has had on representing the LGBTQ+ community. She also praised the series for putting together "the kind of drag show that I love to put on; the heartfelt, reveal-filled drag show of everyone's dreams that I love as well."

Sasha continued: "I asked Bob, 'Would you recommend that I do this show?' And she told me how it's changed her life to be a part of three seasons. (…) So I wanted to be part of this magical show as well."

Later in the interview, Sasha also discussed how her connections to We're Here costars Latrice Royale, Jaida Essence Hall, and Priyanka deepened while filming season 4.

"I had met all of them, and I loved all of them before the show," Sasha explained. "But the way we get to meet other drag artists is often in passing, [like] backstage at a gig."

She added, "Working on a show like this, literally needing each other for survival in stressful moments, having to do group therapy in the lobby before you go film a day of scene work because you've been up against hatred for the last several days, and you're dealing with people's really sensitive stories… those are life bonds."

Sasha also highlighted how they all have different ways of dealing with the obstacles that they must face on We're Here. "You can see in moments of conflict, we each take a different approach to trying to defuse it or fight back, and I think we're all surprised. We all get to show a different side of ourselves than people may have seen before."

New episodes of HBO's We're Here season 4 are released every Friday on Max.
