The cast of The White Lotus season 3.
HBOEditor's note: This article contains spoilers for the grand finale (episode 8), titled "Amor Fati," of The White Lotus season 3.
Sunday's 90-minute season finale of The White Lotus season 3 was shocking, scandalous, and totally deadly. The opening lines from the monk feel quite ominous as the episode montages over our cast of resorters, so we'll surely have some questions at the end of this.
Sam Rockwell completely steals the show the second he's on screen.
As Rick (Walter Goggins) leaves the hotel where they've been partying all night, Frank (Rockwell) parkours after him down the hallway and then delivers a "Hey!" that will surely become a meme.
Rick is determined to get back to The White Lotus resort to see his girlfriend, but it seems he's forgotten that Jim Hollinger, whom he confronted with a gun just last episode, owns that property.
Sarah Catherine Hook on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
After Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lochlan's (Sam Nivola) night at the monastery, Piper confesses to Victoria (Parker Posey) that perhaps she's not cut out for the Buddhist life. Piper cries over being a "princess who needs things to be a certain way" at breakfast while Victoria gleefully comforts her and pressures her to indulge in the finer things in life.
Patrick Schwarzenegger on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) continues to ignore Lochlan to the point where he finally just asks him, "Are you mad at me or something?"

HBO
Lochlan reveals that he does in fact remember their threesome with Chloe, particularly jerking Saxon off, and makes an excuse for the encounter.
"I just want to give everyone what they want," says Lochlan. "I'm in a family full of narcissists."
Saxon does not want to hear it — ever — and storms off to read his book alone on the beach, which he can do because, like he says, "I went to Duke."
Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
Saxon is still trying to win over Chelsea (Aimee Lou Reed) and shows off that he can read ("I went to Duke") down by the beach.
But all that's for naught. When Rick walks up to the beach, he and Chelsea have a beautiful reunion.
Rick reassures Chelsea that he's made it past his feelings of anger. "Well, I didn't kill anyone," he notes. Ricky also shares that the confrontation with Jim "got the monkey off my back."
Well… Stay tuned.
Arnas Fedaravicius on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
Meanwhile, Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) not so subtly asks Valentin (Arnas Fedaravicius) for the name of his friends — making it clear that he knows they're behind the robbery from episode 2. Instead of staying silent, Valentin begs Gaitok to keep that information to himself.
Valentin argues that if he were to get arrested, he would get deported. He also reiterates that they have no way of making money. "If you say something, you're killing me."
And, for some reason, Gaitok does stay silent?
Jason Isaacs on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
Timothy (Jason Isaacs), gunless yet still suicidal, remembers the fruit just outside his window is poisonous and decides to grind up the seed and serve it to his entire family.
Saxon's annoying blender will finally be put to good use, some fans could argue.
Natasha Rothwell on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
Zion (Nicholas Duvernay) and Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) meet up with Greg Hunt (Jon Gries) for bribery and negotiations. Zion is ready to play hardball with Greg, hilariously quotes A Raisin in the Sun, and, to Belinda's surprise, asks Greg to up the bribery to $5 million.
"She's just caught up in the ethics of it all," he explains.
Zion believes there's enough money here for everyone to get their happy ending and is ready to extort Greg for all he's got. Belinda, who at first plays innocent, exits the room like she's haggling with a car dealership, then sends Zion back into the room to play hardball.

HBO
Timothy's questions feel more pointed than ever, and he's relieved when Lochlan says that he can live without their family's money. Now, Timothy reasons, Lochlan might deserve to survive!
Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, and Leslie Bibb on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
After all the chaos, gossiping, and sleeping around that took place during their vacation, Kate (Leslie Bibb), Laurie (Carrie Coon), and Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) have dinner and seem to be surprisingly OK, actually.
"Everything is in bloom," Kate gushes, despite them not actually addressing any of their fights or feelings. At first, Laurie seems to be ruminating, but when she finally speaks, the tears flood her eyes.
"If I'm being honest, I just feel like all week I've been so sad," Laurie says, confessing that their friendship is one of the only decisions in her life that she doesn't necessarily second-guess.
Seems like quite the fake friendship, but hey, as long as they're all happy!
Aimee Lou Wood on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
Chelsea couldn't be happier that Rick is back at the hotel — and he's even feeling sort of happy and safe. When Rick shares that he intends to spend the rest of his life with Chelsea, she literally starts to cry.
Parker Posey on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
Timothy feeds his entire family (except Lochlan) the poisonous piña colada, watching in a haze as they all take a sip.
Then, after a full season of fantasizing about killing his family, the regret sinks in.
"The coconut milk's off!" Timothy suddenly exclaims.
The Ratliff father knocks the glasses out of Saxon's hand, collects the glasses that Victoria and Piper were drinking from, and dumps all of their remnants in the sink. Though this feels like quite the heroic act of saving his family from being poisoned, everyone else is just oblivious to it.
In fact, Victoria didn't get to finish that cocktail, and thus reminds Timothy that he should grab some of the wine from right behind him.
Dom Hetrakul on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
She gets it. Belinda gets the money. Greg Hunt wires her the $5 million, all in the name of Tanya and keeping the peace.
"Good things happen to good people."
But her first priority isn't to launch her wellness center… It's to get the hell out of Thailand! (And she's right.)
Zion asks her, "Don't you want to start the center with Pornchai?" By that point, Belinda seems to have completely forgotten the potential life she could've had with the staff member at The White Lotus, effectively putting Pornchai in the same position that Tanya put her in back in season 1.
Walton Goggins on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
The next morning, Jim Hollinger confronts Rick, who is lackadaisically lounging at The White Lotus breakfast buffet instead of going literally anywhere else. As they see each other, Jim delivers the ultimate insult to Rick's mother.
"I knew she was a drunk and a slut. Didn't know she was a liar, too," Jim tells Rick. "[She] wanted you to think your father was some kind of great man. She told you a fairytale, kid. Your father was no saint. You didn't miss out on much. And that's the fucking truth."
Rick doesn't take that well, to say the least… And then he storms off, spiraling.
Sam Nivola on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
Lochlan finally decides to make his own protein shake and doesn't bother to clean out the machine from last night. As Victoria, Saxon, and Piper head to breakfast, Lochlan is choking by the pool, and no one even notices what's happening.
Lochlan throws up the smoothie before falling over and is dying agonizingly, like he's slowly drowning slowly. As he dies in an underwater dream, he sees four monks looking straight down at him.
Timothy wanders outside and finds his son on the ground, unconscious. He sprints over, frantic but helpless, over his dying son.
Nicholas Duvernay on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
Rick finally does it. He eyes Jim happily taking photos with Jaclyn — perhaps too happily — and rushes him, swipes Jim's gun, and shoots him twice.
As the girls flee the scene, Sritala (Lek Patravadi) loses her temper.
"He's your father," Sritala yells at Rick. "He told me! He's your father!"
Wait, what?
Rick has no time to process those words given that Jim's security comes right after him, culminating in the shootout that started out season 3 — through a flash-forward — with a bang.
Chelsea runs up behind Rick, desperate for them to escape and make it to their happy ending. But after Rick takes the two guards out, he turns around to see Chelsea on the ground, blood pooling on her chest. She's been caught in the crossfire.
Tayme Thapthimthong on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
Gaitok finally remembers he's on the clock and sprints into action. He unlocks the security guard's gun and sprints to the scene to find Rick carrying Chelsea in his arms.
Sritala instructs Gaitok to shoot Rick. Gaitok hesitates, but eventually shoots.
Both Rick and Chelsea fall into the water.
Shalini Peiris on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
Somehow, Lochlan regains consciousness in Timothy's arms. "I think I just saw God," he tells his father, who he doesn't realize almost (accidentally?) killed them all.
The death count drops back down to five: Rick, Chelsea, Jim Hollinger, and two security guards.
Morgana O'Reilly, Arnas Fedaravicius, Christian Friedel, Dom Hetrakul, and Lalisa Manobal on The White Lotus season 3.
HBO
After one hell of a week, the surviving guests depart The White Lotus resort in Thailand.
Mook (Lalisa Manobal) is happy, thrilled even, that Gaitok murdered someone and got a promotion. Her mind… What goes on in there?
Jaclyn, Laurie, and Kate are trauma-bonded even more, Valentin and the Russians live happily ever after with absolutely no consequence after holding the jewelry store at gunpoint, Frank is back on the sober wagon and deep in prayer at the monastery, while Belinda and Zion ($5 million richer now) wave goodbye to Pornchai.
Moments before the Ratliff family turn on their phones for the first time all week, Timothy finally acknowledges the sh*t-storm that's coming for them. "We'll get through it as a family," he reassures the Ratliffs. And despite fantasizing about his and their demise all weekend, he looks quite relieved to say that out loud.
And that's it! That concludes season 3 of The White Lotus.
HBO's The White Lotus season 3 is now streaming on Max.
