It’s almost time for a Royal sendoff.
The third, and final season of the hit Swedish teen series Young Royals has officially begun filming.
Netflix’s hit gay teen romance about a young prince and his boyfriend will be ending after its third season, which started production recently.
Young Royals stars Edvin Ryding as Prince Wilhelm, the teen prince of Sweden who falls in love with Simon Eriksson (Omar Rudberg), a fellow student at the fictional boarding school Hillerska. The first two seasons have been praised for their representation and love story.
“Nothing but good vibes as the Young Royals cast is back on set for the third and final season,” Netflix wrote in a Tweet, announcing that the season had started filming.
The video shows the cast hanging time together, reading scripts, and just being adorable. There are, of course, lots of shots of stars Ryding and Rudberg together.
“The first episode is going to be ‘wow!’ Ryding says in it.
Lisa Ambjörn, the show’s head writer and showrunner also posted her thoughts on Instagram.
“Everyday is special because we are shooting the very last season(!!) as most of our fbi-skilled fans already figured out,” she wrote. “This hardworking, creative and genuinely fun team is everything and I feel blessed to tell this epic third and final chapter with them.”
While many of Netflix’s queer shows get canceled after one season or before they get a chance to fully tell their stories, it’s good to see that at least this queer show will get to plan its ending.
The first two seasons of Young Royals are now streaming on Netflix.
