Looking's homewrecker shares his beard secrets

Matthew Risch's breakout moment on HBO's Looking was long overdue: We already had him on our radar last summer when he starred in the movie Test. Andit's also great news that the actor is a fierce defensor of a naturally hairy body. Here, Risch tells us how he takes care of his beautiful beard.
"My sister-in-law gave me a beard soap bar by Hudson Made for Christmas," Risch says. "She's a fashion design who was on Project Runway. Her gay friends run the store Alter, in Brooklyn, and they sell the soap there. I noticed a difference: It leaves my beard shinier, and not so dry."
"As far as grooming goes, I don't trust myself with trimming my beard, so I go to a salon," Risch says. "But if I'm trying to save money, I will shape it a bit. I just trim the very, very sides closest to my ear, and let the rest go a bit longer. I leave the tuft underneath my chin, and I make the sides clean for a leaner line."
