The Advocate wins Outstanding Magazine at GLAAD Media Awards

Out's sibling publication, The Advocate, bested nine other nominees in the category.

Out's sibling publication, The Advocate, has won this year's GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Magazine Overall Coverage.

Sign up for the Out Newsletter to keep up with what's new in LGBTQ+ culture and entertainment — delivered three times a week straight (well…) to your inbox!

It bested nine other nominees: Allure, Cosmopolitan, The Hollywood Reporter, Metro Weekly, People, Variety, and Vogue — as well as Out and Plus, which are sibling publications to The Advocate and also owned by equalpride. Out won the award last year, and The Advocate won it the two years prior.

This award and others were presented Thursday night at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. It was the 36th annual GLAAD Media Awards ceremony.

Michael Urie hosted the event, which honored 2024 Out100 Icon of the Year Cynthia Erivo (Wicked, Harriet, Broadway's The Color Purple) with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, presented to an LGBTQ+ media professional who has made a significant difference in raising visibility and promoting acceptance of LGBTQ+ people and causes.
