"I can't imagine what it must be like to be a trans person knowing that the government is trying to legislate that you do not exist," the Traitors host and Out cover star said.

Alan Cumming appeared on The View this week to discuss turning 60 years old, working as host and producer on The Traitors season 3, and being Out's January/February 2025 cover star. During the interview, Cumming also slammed the "terrible" attacks that trans people are currently facing under President Donald Trump's second term in the White House.

When asked about his influence on the LGBTQ+ community, opening a venue called Club Cumming in New York City, and how the club has now become a "safe space" under this new Trump administration, Cumming underscored the strong attacks that have been happening against the LGBTQ+ community for many years now — even before the 2024 presidential election — noting how they're particularly targeted against trans people.

"So many laws, in various states across the country, being absolutely heinous," he explained. "I can't imagine what it must be like to be a trans person knowing that the government is trying to legislate that you do not exist. I just think it's awful. And what kind of country are we in where we're, we take rights away from people? Do you know what I mean? What is going on?!"

Cumming continued, "I worry for some of the people who work for us and who come [to the club]. People are hoarding their medication because they are scared they're not going to be able to get it again. It's just a terrible, terrible situation."

"And, of course, [targeting] the easiest marginalized group and making it about things like toilets," he added. "It's not about that. That's a smokescreen to hide the other terrible things they want to do to us."

Joy Behar also asked Cumming about his Out cover, highlighting a quote about him "embracing [his] daddy-ness" at age 60.

"For my birthday, I came back from London, and I went out to a club. I wanted to dance all weekend, and so I did," the actor and reality TV host explained. "This club is called Mother Disco, and it seemed like everyone there knew it was my birthday. So all these people were kind of saying 'happy birthday' and 'hey daddy.' I was getting so much 'daddy' action. And I was like, you know… I've taken it."

To celebrate such a milestone as one's 60th birthday, The View cohosts also brought out a cake featuring fabulous outfits worn by Cumming on The Traitors.

If you're also obsessed with the fashion of it all, make sure to watch Out's weekly segment, "What Alan Wore," with exclusive behind-the-scenes details from Cumming's stylist, Sam Spector. On the most recent episode, Spector discussed Cumming's "queer metal angel" look from episode 5 of The Traitors season 3.

Cumming had a great time on The View, and the cohosts clearly had a blast interviewing him. Cheers to that!
