The official trailer for James Franco's Sal, about the final days of actor Sal Mineo, is now ready for your viewing pleasure. Val Lauren plays the 1950s teen idol and an Academy Award nominee for his roles in Rebel Withought a Cause and Exodus. Lauren plays Mineo at the end of his career (but still with plenty of skin showing, muscles rippling), when he has opened up about his homosexuality and is finding his way to becoming the actor and director he has always wanted to be. This isn't the first time Franco and Lauren have collaborated, they also worked with director Travis Mathews on the film Interior.Leather Bar., in which Lauren is cast as a naif who is engaging with the leather world as they explore the movie Cruising, which starred Al Pacino.
Sal will be available nationwide on VOD and iTunes on October 22, and it will open in select theaters beginning November 1 in Los Angeles at the Sundance Sunset Cinema.
