Hari Nef, Suki Waterhouse, Odessa Young, and Abra will star in a new thriller set in a small suburban high school, Varietyreports.
Assassination Nation tells the story of four teenagers catapaulted into international media spotlight when all of their private information is hacked and shared on the internet by an anonymous third party. The screenplay comes from Sam Levinson (Another Happy Day, Wizard of Lies)who will also direct the project.
The film is backed by Foxtail Entertainment, created by Matthew Malek and Anita Gou, who launched the company last month in an effort to tell edgy stories highlighting diversity and inter-cultural concepts.
"Odessa, Hari, Abra and Suki are great, rising talents who all come from different backgrounds and collectively make up a cast that is young, diverse, and powerful--all things we want this film to reflect," said Gou and Malek. "What attracted both of us to the project was it's bold depiction of teenagers, not as vapid or distracted but rather engaged and determined to navigate the complexities of this new world. It tackles issues of shaming, mob mentality, vigilantism, and righteousness."
David S. Goyer's Phantom Four Productions are also set to help produce.
Assassination Nation begins principal photography early next year.
