Amazon's New Lucille Ball Biopic to Star Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett will star in an upcoming Amazon Studios biopic about Lucille Ball with a script written by Aaron Sorkin, Deadlinereports.

The movie is titled Lucy and Desi and will focus on the actress' marriage of 20 years to Desi Arnaz, who co-starred with her in I Love Lucy. There's no official word on Arnaz's casting, but circulating rumors suggest Javier Bardem could be in the running.

Lucy and Desi will also characterize Vivian Vance and William Frawley, who played Frank and Ethel Mertz on the iconic TV series, as well as Lucie Luckinbill and Desi Arnaz Jr., who're children of Ball and Arnaz.

Ball won four Emmy awards over the course of her starring role on her groundbreaking sitcom. Blanchett has won Oscars for The Aviator and Blue Jasmine.
