Actor Zachary Quinto and director JJ Abrams are set to co-produce a story exploring the secret love affair between two classic men of Hollywood: Tab Hunter and Anthony Perkins.
The screen legends both rose to fame in the 50's and 60's, a time when the two men had to keep their sexuality a secret for coming out as openly gay/bi would have been career suicide. Hunter starred in over 40 movies during that time and came out as gay publicly in 2005. Perkins died of AIDS in 1992, while still married to his wife, Berry Berenson, who kept silent that the actor was dying of AIDS per his request.
Quinto and Abrams worked together before on the rebooted Star Trek films. Even though Abrams' production company Bad Robot is co-producing the movie, at this time it's not believed that Abrams will direct or Quinto will star as either Hunter or Perkins.
