Jake Gyllenhaal Is Gay (and Shirtless) in Netflix's 'Velvet Buzzsaw'
Everyone has a Netflix movie these days, so why not Jake Gyllenhaal and, more importantly, his chest? This week, the trailer for Netflix's next thriller Velvet Buzzsaw dropped and it has an all-star cast including Gyllenhaal, his pecs, Toni Collette, John Malkovich (who, after Bird Box, is apparently a part of Netflix's artist-in-residency program alongside that girl from Dumplin') and, most importantly, Jake Gyllenhaal's boobs. Did I mention that the trailer prominently features Jake Gyllenhaal's enormous jugs? I didn't? Well, it does and you should watch it immediately.
Gyllenhaal stars in Velvet Buzzsaw as a gay (!) art critic (!!) named Morf Vandewalt (!!!) who reportedly has a sex scene (!!!!) when he's not busy being haunted by a dead artist's paintings. Based on the trailer, this is either a twisted psychological thriller or a straight up horror movie with an art-house vibe, emphasis on the art.
The film, which will premiere at Sundance later this month, is obviously not the first time Gyllenhaal played gay: his Brokeback Mountain sex scene remains one of Out's all time favorites. Though the trailer leaves us with many questions, our most pressing is obviously whether or not Gyllenhaal will bottom again. Although a gallerist named Morf reads as more of a dom top to me. Well, we'll see!
Of course, the gays are also very excited to see Toni Collette in another horror role after her incandescent performance in 2018's Hereditary, for which she was robbed of any awards season consideration.
Velvet Buzzsaw drops on Netflix and in select theaters February 1.
