"On Your Side" also marks Rose's directorial debut.
Ruby Rose makes her directorial debut today in the premiere of the new Veronicas music video for "On Your Side," which she also stars in. Rose and Jessica Origliasso, one of the singers of The Veronicas, are currently dating in real life and bring that sizzling chemistry to the screen.
"When I first heard the song I was drawn to the lyrics," says Rose. "Some songs tell the first chapter of a story others only tell the last but here I was listening to a full narrative of someone's sincere experience with love."
In addition to directing and acting, Rose also wrote the script, which follows the couple as they meet, fall in love, make out a lot, get in a barfight, and struggle with a pill addiction. The whole thing is a classic tale of bad-girl-meets-slightly-less-bad-girl.
"Working with Ruby, someone who naturally aligns with and embraces powerful and impassioned narrative, was an organic step forward for The Veronicas and an inspiring and rewarding experience for everyone involved," says Origliasso. "The video shares a story between Ruby's character and mine. It's a true to life look at the passion and protection of two people falling in love and, ultimately, a love that cannot be broken."
"On Your Side" is the second single off of The Veronicas' new album. Check it out below:
