The out singer gets sensual and shirtless in self-produced video.
Adam Lambert invites everyone to stare in his raw, self-produced music video for single "Welcome to the Show."
Released Thursday, the video, featuring songwriter Laleh, lingers in close shots of Lambert's face and chest--shirt optional in several clips.
In an open letter accompanying the video, Lambert breaks down his inspiration behind the song and why he wanted to produce the track himself.
"Sometimes it's terrifying to face your true, whole self, stripped of any pretense," Lambert said. "The good, the bad, the cracks, and the scars. I am no stranger to the feeling of not liking myself."
The American Idol finalist talked about struggling with his body image and with the problems of being "trapped" by labels or identities.
"Living in a world filled with so much hatred sometimes makes cultivating self-love a very difficult task. I have always struggled with this as I'm sure many of you have," he said.
"Welcome to the Show" is his first self-produced video, and the out singer revels during his performance in the bare authenticity of the song and the shoot.
"Take your flaws in stride, nurture your talents, take pride in your queerness, and share all the love you have," he said.
