The 2016 Video Music Awards could have easily been renamed "Lemonade 2.0" this year, as Beyonce swept the categories with her stunning visual album.
The singer won eight Moonmen for the visual album, including "Video of the Year" for her New Orleans-inspired visuals on "Formation."
During the awards ceremony, Beyonce took the main stage in Madison Square Garden to perform a "Lemonade" medley that gave fans everything they wanted--antebellum dresses, pyrotechnics, and the queen herself taking a bat to an MTV camera.
Following her was Britney Spears, who returned to the VMA stage after 10 years to perform "Make Me" with G-Eazy.
Rihanna won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and delivered a four-act performance throughout the night of all her past work.
Other highlights included Kayne West introducing his new "Fade" video and a performance of "Bacon" by Nick Jonas.
