The London Gay Men’s Chorus Visited a Therapist and Are Singing About It

Shame Chorus premieres October 8 at the London Irish Centre.

Commissioned by the Freud Museum in London, the London's Gay Men Chorus will perform a recital based on their own psychotherapy sessions. Shame Chorus was written in collaboration with psychoanalyst Susie Orbach about the chorus's own anonymous therapy sessions. It's the product of artist Jordan McKenzie.

"Shame perpetuates silence," McKenzie said. "Shame Chorus comes from a need to tackle this silence head-on, to empower and start a conversation about the difficulties we face and turn them into meaningful discussion and inspirational artistic experiences."
