The transgender performer nabbed the nomination 11 years after being nominated for Best British Male artist.
Transgender performer Anohni is a contender for Best British Female Artist for the 2017 BRIT Awards.
The nomination marks a milestone both in the performer's career and in her gender transition. Before her transition, she was nominated in 2006 for Best British Male Artist as the lead singer behind Antony and the Johnsons.

Last year, in an interview with the Guardian, the artist talked in depth about her transgender journey. "I was never going to become a beautiful, passable woman, and I was never going to be a man," she said. "It's a quandary. But the trans condition is a beautiful mystery; it's one of nature's best ideas."
Also last year, Anonhi refused to attend the Oscars after nabbing a rare academy nomination for a transgender artist.
