"As a fashion icon, I can't tell u about everybody else's closet, I can only tell u about mine, and it's time I've come out."
After Chance the Rapper's brother Taylor Bennett announced he's bisexual this week, fellow hip-hop artist iLoveMakonnen came out as a gay Friday morning--two key figures in an industry that's longtime struggled with homophobia.
"As a fashion icon, I can't tell u about everybody else's closet, I can only tell u about mine, and it's time I've come out," the "Tuesday" rapper said on Twitter. "And since y'all love breaking news, here's some old news to break, I'm gay. And now I've told u about my life, maybe u can go life yours."
iLoveMakonnen finished his early morning reveal with an Instagram post, screenshotting the series of tweets, and writing the caption, "Thank you for letting me be myself."
