After disbanding in 1997, Bikini Kill, widely considered to be the pioneers behind the 'riot grrrl' movement, reunited onstage last night in New York City at The Kitchen.
They were celebrating the release of Jenn Pelly's new 33 1/3 book about the self-titled The Raincoats album, and sang one song, "For Tammy Rae," before handing the stage over to The Raincoats themselves.
Take a look, below:
Bikini Kill released two full-length albums over the course of their time together: Pussy Whipped and Reject All American. In 2015, they re-released their demo tape from 1991, Revolution Girl Style Now!, with previously unreleased tracks "Playground" and "Ocean Song."
Also that year, Boston declared April 9 "Riot Grrrl Day" in honor of lead singer Kathleen Hanna.
