So long and goodnight to your favorite high school music festival.
Fire up your emo high school playlist and plan your memorial trip to Hot Topic because next year, The Vans Warped Tour will end. Founder Kevin Lyman has announced to Billboard that the traveling mecca for scene kids with bad haircuts nationwide is shuttering after 24 years on the road, which may shock people who had no idea it was still around.
"Traveling around the country with a tour this size in the landscape that we're in is...to be honest, I'm just tired," he explained of the decision. While we may all laugh through our mascara tears at the memory of seeing The Maine or Fall Out Boy for the first time, let's not forget that the iconic roaming festival also gave Katy Perry her start.
Prepare your plans now if you want to get tickets to the final run because Lyman has big plans for the blowout tour. "You're gonna see a big mix of bands I felt really embraced the Warped Tour lifestyle," he says. "I don't want to say a 'mature' lineup, but bands that I think could use one more big push of Warped Tour to help further their careers." Yes, that's a kind way of saying you'll probably see NOFX and Mayday Parade there. Thnks fr th Mmrs, Warped Tour. So long and goodnight.
Here's a Warped Tour playlist to ease your broken heart.
