Rising Bronx rapper Quay Dash released this week the first single off her forthcoming mixtape, Satans Angel, and it's a slow, self-affirming track produced by Florida's Lord Quan.
Called "I Need a Bag," the songs sees Dash casually spitting untouchable lyrics: "Bad little black girl lookin' all iced up," she says above an appropriately icy instrumental, before breaking into the hook. "But I need a bag, I'll give you the cash; make sure that it's fat like a pillow, I'm-a need it on a dash."
The song is "about a dealer who's trying to have sex with me, but I decline and need my bag instead," Dash told OUT, adding that we can expect to hear Satans Angel in full by the end of March. Dash's new release this week follows 2016's Transphobic EP, which featured five tracks about the artist's experience as a transgender woman living in New York. Listen to "I Need a Bag," below.
