Instant Love Transforms Straight Love Songs into Sisterhood Anthems

Instant Love Transforms Straight Love Songs into Sisterhood Anthems

Instant Records

Premiering today is Erin Durant's cover of Buffalo Springfield's "Kind Woman."

Launching today for International Women's Day is an album of classic songs reworked and reimagined to honor women. Under the reigns of Allison Zatarain and Richard Gottehrer, Instant Records has begun to release an ongoing project called Instant Love. New covers will be shared online every two weeks, including reimagined tracks by Van Morrison, The Beach Boys and Ray LaMontagne.

The album takes classic straight love songs and transforms them into sisterhood anthems--songs for mothers, daughters, sisters and femme friends alike. The release kicks off today with a cover of Buffalo Springfield's "Kind Woman," sung by Brooklyn-based indie artist Erin Durant.

"I kind of fantasized about this world where women can be very unafraid to express complex feelings to each other, without labels, whether gay, straight, bi or trans, just shades of gray," Zatarain told Mic. "It's whatever you're feeling, and just to be free to express that to each other."
