Just in case you felt like your Memorial Day weekend music selection was looking a little anemic, Carly Rae Jepsen is here to deliver a pop banger in the nick of time (as usual).
From the upcoming film Leap!, Jepsen's "Cut to the Feeling" is the pure, bubbly pop that we've come to expect from the Canadian songstress. With all the makings of a road trip anthem, beach banger, or Pride party favorite, "Cut to the Feeling" is understandably brilliant. Originally planned as a potential track for her critically acclaimed E*MO*TION, and even brought back on the table for E*MO*TION: Side B, the singer felt it was almost "Too cinematic or theatrical" for anything but a musical, she told EW. Can you imagine?

The song starts with a sampling of synth flourish from Madonna's "Lucky Star," so that already sets a high expectation for the song, which it immediately rises to. "I wanna cut through the clouds, break the ceiling," she belts, "I wanna dance on the roof, you and me alone. I wanna cut to the feeling!" Carly Rae Godsend is here to give you all your summer feels on the first long weekend of the season, as benevolent as ever. Listen, below.
