The first taste of her forthcoming album, Beautiful Trauma, out October 13.
Five years have passed since P!nk released a full-length album, but this fall she's set to return with Beautiful Trauma, a follow-up to 2012's The Truth About Love. In half a decade, much has changed within America--most notably a shift in power to President Trump, who's been threatening fiery, furious nuclear war and publicly stripping LGBTQ people of their rights. To a man, who ignorantly posts videos of himself with the disconnected hashtag, #GodBlessTheUSA, P!nk is appropriately asking him on her lead single, "What About Us?"
The track is packed with a powerful message, but its delivery is decidedly upbeat--a balance of honest desperation and untouchable strength that's defined P!nk's career since the beginning. "We are problems that want to be solved," she sings on the Steve Mac-produced cut. "We are children that need to be loved/ We were willing, we came when you called/ But then you fooled us, enough is enough." Given the timing, her words innately speak to a dishonest political leader, but they're also applicable to general heartbreak, as well.
According to Billboard, P!nk co-wrote all 13 songs on Beautiful Trauma, and collaborated with a number of songwriters, including Jack Antonoff, Max Martin and Julia Michaels. With song titles like "Revenge" and "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken," P!nk's forthcoming effort seems to be shaping up as the perfect dose of aggressive, power-pop--an attitude and edge P!nk knows best.
