Dolly Parton, country icon and earth angel, has given us the glorious gift of escapism through her new children's album. In these Trumpian times of darkness and despair, Parton is a shining beacon of hope, appearing on the cover as a whimsical butterfly in a dress with wings like an angel's.
The 71-year-old singer's LP is, of course, titled I Believe in You, and will premiere digitally on September 29 with a hard copy release on October 13. Announcing details of her album in the Dollywood suburb of Nashville, Parton shared that all proceeds will go to the Imagination Library, her charity which mails one million free books to kids every month.
"Dolly's vision was to foster a love of reading among her county's preschool children and their families by providing them with the gift of a specially selected book each month," Imagination Library's site explains. "By mailing high quality, age-appropriate books directly to their homes, she wanted children to be excited about books and to feel the magic that books can create."
I Believe in You will feature song titles like "Together Forever," "I'm Here," and, "You Can Do It," further cementing our dependency on Parton to keep us safe and inspired as we navigate a country where our openly racist President is of KKK descent.
